Local History and Whakapapa

Adventure SolutioNZ is located on an historic Maori ancestral site.
Irapeke is a renowned ancestral Ngati Awa warrior who was an expert in warfare, he was able to assemble Maori warriors whenever their Iwi came under attack by other tribes.

To alert the warriors of a dangerous presence Irapeke would blow into a Putatara, a horn made of a giant conch shell that sends a loud horn sound far and wide.

When Irapeke called these war parties together they would gather at a place called Te Pahitaua, the very site Adventure SolutioNZ is built on.

Each of our courses at Adventure SolutioNZ has been named after one of Irapeke’s ancestors in honor of his and this land’s history. These ancestors stretch back in time until the first Waka came to Aotearoa’s shores carrying Irapeke’s ancestors.

Starting with Irapeke’s grandfather, Rongotangiawa, each course is named one generation older than the next. Ending with Toroa, who was on the first Waka to come to the shores of Aotearoa.

The incoporation of the local Whakapapa into a program can easily be done, and some clients find its relevance very influential in their personal development and progression through Adventure SolutioNZ.
